Adding Google Analytics to a WordPress Site



One of the critical items needed to run a successful SEO or Social Media campaign is to have the ability to track your efforts.   An easy way to do this is with, Google Analytics.   There are several articles on the Internet that describes how to setup your Google Analytics and how to read them and determine what is working and not working, that is not the point of this article.   The point of this article is, how can you add Google Analytics to a website that is using WordPress?

Now, for those of you who are not programmers, having a simple plugin would be the key.  Of course there are hundreds of them out there for Google Anaylitcs, but you want to make sure that the plugins you add to your WordPress site are not slowing down your site.  So, a simple little plugin like the following would work out great:

Insert Headers and Footers

Insert Headers and Footers is a simple plugin that lets you add scripts like Google Analytics to your WordPress site without having to get your hands dirty in code. Moreover, the simple interface gives you one place where you can add all of you scripts rather than dealing with dozens of plugins.

So here is the simple procedure to add Google Analytics to your WordPress website:

  1. Setup your Google Analytics account.
  2. Install the Insert Headers and Footer Plugin.
  3. Add the Google Analytics code the the Header within the settings of the plugin.
